MAS President Receives Honorary Fellowship at SSN Annual Conference in Nepal
The Maldives Association of Surgeons (MAS) is pleased to share that its President, Dr. Abdulla Ubaid, attended the Society of Surgeons of Nepal (SSN) Annual Conference held recently in Kathmandu. The meeting brought together leading surgeons and delegates from across the South Asian region, creating a vibrant platform for academic exchange and regional collaboration.

During the conference, Dr. Ubaid delivered a well-received presentation highlighting MAS-led initiatives to introduce advanced surgical care and advanced wound management in regional hospitals of the Maldives. He showcased this as a model for strengthening and upgrading surgical services nationwide—an approach that drew significant interest from participants across South Asia.
In recognition of his contributions to surgical services and regional collaboration, the Society of Surgeons of Nepal conferred upon Dr. Ubaid an Honorary Fellowship of the Society. This distinction reflects both his individual achievements and the growing recognition of the Maldives’ progress in surgical care.

The visit also held personal significance for Dr. Ubaid. As a postgraduate alumnus of Tribhuvan University, he expressed great pleasure in reconnecting with his former professors and colleagues after nearly 20 years, marking a memorable return to the institution where his surgical journey was shaped.

MAS congratulates Dr. Ubaid on this prestigious honor and extends its appreciation to SSN for the warm hospitality and continued partnership. Further updates on MAS activities and regional engagements will continue to be shared on our website.
