MAS Hosts November 2025 CME Program on Pancreatitis Management

The Maldives Association of Surgeons (MAS) successfully conducted its November 2025 Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “From Structure to Strategy: A Deep Dive into Pancreatitis and Its Management.” The session was held on 20th November at 20:00 hrs at the STO Training Institute, STO Trade Center, 4th Floor, and was attended by surgeons, physicians, trainees, and other healthcare professionals from across Malé.

The program brought together a panel of local experts who delivered a comprehensive series of lectures covering the structural, physiological, and clinical aspects of pancreatitis.

Dr. Nuha opened the session with an overview of pancreatic anatomy, physiology, and function, setting the foundation for the evening’s discussions. This was followed by Dr. Shamha’s insightful presentation on the pathophysiology of acute pancreatitis, tracing its progression from enzyme activation to organ failure.

Continuing the spectrum, Dr. Aminath detailed the prolonged inflammatory course and clinical implications of chronic pancreatitis, highlighting the challenges in long-term management. The program concluded with Dr. Imran’s lecture on recent advances in pancreatitis care, exploring emerging strategies and future directions in the field.

This CME program reflects MAS’s continued commitment to strengthening surgical education, fostering academic collaboration, and supporting continuous professional development among healthcare practitioners in the Maldives.
