
MAS Executive Committee Discusses Strategic Action Plan for 2025
The Executive Committee of the Maldives Association of Surgeons (MAS) held an in-depth discussion on the Strategic Action Plan to activate and expand the association’s activities for 2025 and beyond. The comprehensive strategy was presented by the President, Dr. Abdulla Ubaid, in collaboration with the Executive Secretary.

The plan focuses on revitalizing MAS and ensuring its sustainability while advancing its role in professional development, surgical education, and collaboration. Key components of the proposed strategy include:

1. Legal and Administrative Strengthening
• Finalize the association’s registration with the Ministry of Youth.
• Reactivate the MAS bank account and implement clear procedures for managing membership fees and donations.
2. Enhancing Communication and Outreach
• Establish a strong digital presence, including:
• Official MAS website to serve as the central information hub.
• Professional email address, contact number, and association letterhead.
• Active engagement on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Threads, TikTok, Telegram, and Messenger.
3. Building Strategic Partnerships
• Collaborate with regional surgical associations like SAARC Surgical Care, Indian Surgeons Association, Nepal Surgeons Association, and others.
• Strengthen relationships with national organizations, including the Ministry of Health, Maldives Medical Association, and leading hospitals across the country.
• Engage with medical companies to secure support for MAS activities.
4. Activity Calendar for 2025
• Monthly CME Gatherings:
• Host regular educational sessions involving multidisciplinary teams.
• Surgical Research Promotion:
• Conduct workshops and support publication of surgery-related research in collaboration with MNU and IUM.
• Workshops and Training:
• Offer hands-on training in surgical procedures, including laparoscopic techniques and circumcision.
• Annual Surgical Conference:
• Organize a national conference to highlight advancements in surgical care and education.
• Support for Postgraduate Training:
• Establish funding mechanisms for postgraduate and subspecialty training programs.
