Maldives Association of Surgeons Conducts Successful Circumcision Camp in Laamu Gan
The Maldives Association of Surgeons (MAS), in collaboration with Laamu Gan Regional Hospital (GRH) and Hadhdhunmathi Council, successfully conducted a circumcision camp from January 1 to January 9, 2026. The initiative was part of MAS’s ongoing community voluntary service program aimed at providing essential surgical care across the country.

Two senior surgeons, Dr. Abdulla Ubaid and Dr. Mohamed Waheed, traveled to Laamu Gan to lead the camp. Over the course of six working days, the team completed 75 circumcision procedures, ensuring safe and effective care for children and families in the region.

The camp was made possible through the joint efforts of MAS’s expert surgical team, anesthetists, nurses, and administrative staff from GRH. Their coordinated work ensured smooth operations and high-quality patient care throughout the program.

MAS expressed gratitude to the Laamu Council and GRH for approaching the association to conduct this important community service. At the conclusion of the camp, the MAS President and Executive Secretary presented a gift pack to senior staff of Laamu Council and GRH as a token of appreciation on behalf of the association.

Speaking about the initiative, MAS leadership emphasized their commitment to continuing similar voluntary activities in the future, focusing on surgery-related community services to benefit Maldivian families nationwide
